STM and scholarly publisher Wiley-Blackwell, US, has announced the launch of e-Patai, a fully searchable and updating electronic reference work. e-Patai seeks to provide labs and libraries around the globe with instant access to a vast range of content straight to their desktop.
Established in 1964 by Prof. Saul Patai, there are now over 100 volumes in Patai’s Chemistry of Functional Groups series, purportedly making it the most comprehensive reference available in functional group chemistry.
At launch, the content of the 21 volumes published since 1996 (comprising more than 27,000 pages of content) will be available to search in e-Patai alphanumerically, by topic and through cross-references. New volumes will be added twice-yearly to ensure that the user is given the most recent information. In addition, the 86 volumes that were published prior to 1996 will be accessible as an online book series – that’s 70,000 pages available as PDFs with downloadable references. This, together with the major reference work, makes it among the biggest electronic reference resource ever launched by Wiley.
Making this content available online is seen to provide Patai's readers with fast and easy access to a complete and comprehensive resource.
