Thomson Reuters develops profiles of global universities and institutions -

Information services provider Thomson Reuters, US, has announced that it has collected data on hundreds of institutions and research facilities from around the world. The result is the Global Institutional Profiles Project, an advanced data-driven view of globally significant universities and research institutions available.

Incorporating scholarly outputs, citation patterns, funding levels, and faculty characteristics, data from the Global Institutional Profiles Project can be customised according to different user specifications, allowing universities and research organisations to analyse information for their own specific needs. Institutions will soon have the ability to access this one-of-a-kind resource that will refine how administrators approach institutional comparisons.

The Global Institutional Profiles Project is an ongoing, multi-stage process to collect and validate factual data about academic institutional performance across a variety of aspects and multiple disciplines. Building on this foundation of high-quality, robust and comprehensive data, Thomson Reuters provides expert interpretation to present analyses in meaningful ways so that users can not only identify the key performance indicators for an institution, but quickly pinpoint where that institution is located within a global landscape of peer institutions.
