CRC Press' CRCnetBASE platform reaches 1.5 million searches milestone in February 2011 -

CRC Press, a US-based publisher of technical and scientific works, has announced that CRCnetBASE, its e-book platform, reached a milestone in February 2011 by recording nearly 1.5 million searches in a single month.

The Atypon-powered CRCnetBASE platform was first launched in February 2010 with new features for librarians and end-users. It won the CHOICE "Outstanding Academic Resource" award in January 2011. Earlier, it had received the ALPSP (Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers) "Best eBook Publisher-best platform" award. The platform is stated to have seen an increase in site usage in the past six months. The company plans to enhance the site with new features this year.

CRCnetBASE offers subscription and purchase access to over 7,600 scientific and technical e-books spanning 40 disciplines. Featuring 37 tightly focused Signature netBASE collections and five Premium netBASE collections (which feature multiple Signature netBASEs), the collections are said to be built to drive and complement today's research. The platform allows users to create personalised accounts where they can save queries, place favourite content onto a virtual bookshelf, purchase individual chapters or e-books, and recommend content to friends. The expanded search is an integral part of the new platform, featuring search capability over more than 35 subjects as well as by DOI and publication date.

In addition to e-books published under the imprint of CRC Press, CRCnetBASE also includes online references from Auerbach and Chapman & Hall. Annual subscriptions and perpetual subscriptions are available for institutional, corporate and academic customers. Free trials are also available.
