University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein selects Serials Solutions' Summon Service and 360 Link -

Serials Solutions, a business unit of the US-based ProQuest LLC, has announced that the University of the Free State (UFS) in Bloemfontein, South Africa, has selected the Summon web-scale discovery service and 360 Link OpenURL link resolver to further increase the discoverability and access to its library collections.

Internationally recognised for its excellence in advanced research, UFS claims to be one of country's oldest multi-lingual institutions serving more than 33,000 students, and the first library in South Africa to adopt the Summon service and 360 Link.

By implementing the Summon service, UFS will provide its patrons the most relevant information from the full breadth of content found in the library's collection. The University Library contains more than 640,000 books and 55,000 electronic resources, and subscribes to more than 100 online databases. These resources serve more than 33,000 students enrolled at the university.

Powered by Serials Solutions KnowledgeWorks, 360 Link is a highly customisable offering. Librarians at UFS can define the best possible user experience for their patrons by determining the order of databases and resource links, the style of citation display, and which custom services to provide. In addition, since 360 Link is provided as a Software as a Service (SaaS), UFS Library can quickly implement and integrate 360 Link with its other library software and technology, saving the librarians time, resources and effort.
