Aviation Week, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, US, has announced that veteran aviation journalists Tony Osborne and Cathy Buyck are the latest members of the international team of editors at Aviation Week, while Frankfurt-based Jens Flottau has been promoted to lead the Commercial Aviation team. Osborne joins as the new London Bureau Chief, and Buyck will serve as contributing editor from a newly opened bureau in Brussels.
Flottau was named managing editor of the Commercial Aviation team, which provides coverage of airlines, aircraft builders and suppliers for Aviation Week & Space Technology and the Aviation Week Intelligence Network. He will direct a team of writers across Europe, the US, Singapore, China and the South Pacific.
Osborne has joined Aviation Week as the new London bureau chief, focusing on the European defence market and the global helicopter industry. Osborne comes to Aviation Week from Shephard Media Group, where he was deputy editor on two rotary-wing magazines, Rotorhub - which he helped create - and Defence Helicopter. He also covered a range of defence issues for other Shephard publications. A long time aviation enthusiast, Osborne contributes regularly to Internet aviation forums.
Buyck joins Aviation Week as a contributing editor and covers European regulatory affairs, commercial air transport and maintenance, repair and overhaul from the new bureau in Brussels. Buyck comes to Aviation Week from the Centre for Aviation, where she was senior analyst for Europe. Prior to that role, she was Air Transport World's European Editor/Bureau Chief, leading ATW's Europe, Middle East and African coverage for the magazine and the daily online news.
