Dr. Karen S. Hill named Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Nursing Administration -

Healthcare publisher Lippincott Williams & Wilkins (LWW), a Wolters Kluwer Health business, has announced the appointment of Dr. Karen S. Hill as Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Nursing Administration (JONA). Dr. Hill is Vice President, Nurse Executive at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington, Kentucky. She is recognised for her expertise in leadership development, intergenerational workforce, and retention of nurses as well as extensive publishing experience.

Dr. Hill replaces Suzanne P Smith, EdD, RN, FAAN, who served as JONA's editor-in-chief for the last thirty years. Dr. Smith will assume the role of JONA Consulting Editor in May and will remain Editor-in-Chief of Nurse Educator.

Dr. Hill has published extensively, with over 60 articles in a variety of journals, including JONA and Nursing Management. She previously served as a columnist and member of JONA's Editorial Board, and is also a columnist along with various co-authors among her nursing staff for Sigma Theta Tau International's (STTI) electronic newsletter, Reflections on Nursing Leadership.

Certified in Nursing Administration, advanced, and Perioperative Nursing, Dr. Hill is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives. She was selected as a RWJF Executive Nurse Fellow in 2000 and was recognised by HcPRO as the National Nursing Image Recipient in 2010.

JONA is a flagship LWW journal now celebrating over 40 years of publishing. The journal has strong domestic and international readership, a high impact factor and affiliations with several leading nursing organisations including the Council on Graduate Education for Administration in Nursing (CGEAN) and the American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE).
