Dove Medical Press attains carboNZero certification -

Dove Medical Press has announced that the publishing operations of the Press has achieved carboNZero certification. The announcement was made by Tim Hill, publisher at Dove Medical Press in Auckland, New Zealand. Dove Medical Press publishes more than 100 open access peer-reviewed journals across the broad spectrum of science, technology, and especially medicine.

The emissions for the 2010-2011 period were verified at 10.61 tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalents. This is equivalent to the emissions created from driving around 45,000 km in a medium sized petrol car. Dove Medical Press met the requirements of carboNZero certification having measured its greenhouse gas emissions in compliance with the requirements of ISO 14064-1:2006.

The carboNZero programme is an internationally recognized Greenhouse Gas certification scheme - commonly referred to as carbon footprinting - for organisations, products, services and events, offering optional mitigation strategies through the provision of credible and verified offsets. The carboNZero programme is based on over a decade of solid research on climate change, greenhouse gas measurement and carbon monitoring.
