The results from the Eighth Annual Knovel University Challenge are in, and they represent the growing international presence of Knovel at academic institutions. The top 10 universities with the highest participation in the 2013 Challenge hailed from the US, Canada, Mexico, Turkey and China.
There was also an increase in participation from UK universities including University College London, University of Birmingham and the University of Nottingham. In total, 24 students from 16 universities took home individual prizes including Samsung Chromebooks, Pebble smartwatches and Roku Media Players.
Each year the Knovel University Challenge presents a series of questions on engineering-related topics, and students can use Knovel to research and find the answers. Questions were created by Knovel staff or submitted by participating University faculty members.
The Challenge introduces future engineers to Knovel's capabilities, and this year's contest gave students a chance to work on the new Knovel platform, which was introduced in September 2013. Knovel provides a cloud-based application that integrates technical information with analytical and search tools.
