Thieme releases atlas of head and neck anatomy for dental medicine practitioners -

STM publisher Thieme Publishing Group, Germany, has announced the release of an atlas titled Head and Neck Anatomy for Dental Medicine, focusing on the structures of the head and neck as taught to dental medicine students. The content has been carved out from Thieme Atlas of Anatomy. Eric Baker has reorganised, revised and added new material to create the resource.

The atlas is projected to include more than 900 large, clearly labeled, full-colour illustrations and schematics, with descriptive captions, plus more than 90 tables summarising key information. Each two-page spread is designed as a self-contained guide to a topic. The arrangement of coverage in each region begins with the skeletal framework, adding the muscles, the vasculature, the nerves, and finally presenting the topographic anatomy for a comprehensive overview. With good artwork, explanatory information and a pedagogic approach, the atlas is claimed to serve as a reference for practitioners of dental medicine. It is also targeted at students and practitioners working in fields dealing primarily with the head and neck.

Head and Neck Anatomy for Dental Medicine comes with access to WinkingSkull.com PLUS, an interactive online study aid with more than 600 full-colour illustrations and radiographs. More than 100 dental images from this book have been added to the Thieme Teaching Assistant, an online platform that enables instructors to incorporate dynamic visuals into lectures and presentations.
