Academic and reference books publisher Oxford University Press (OUP) has released the online edition of the Encyclopedia of Africa (www.oxford-africaencyclopedia.com) in partnership with Semantico Ltd., a provider of services and technology for online publishing.
The Encyclopedia of Africa is claimed to present an up-to-date and thorough reference on the history, politics and culture of Africa. It features 1,300 entries, 200 illustrations and demographic sidebars to further guide and inform research.
The online resource is an addition to the Oxford Digital Reference Shelf (ODRS), the online collection of OUP’s scholarly reference titles. ODRS is powered by an online publishing platform designed by Semantico, featuring a production interface built on the Semantico Information Publishing Platform (SIPP). This system seeks to allow OUP to manage the uploading and updating of content in-house, simplifying the release of new content to the site.
