EBSCO to hold Open Days across Asian cities -

Electronic research databases provider EBSCO Publishing, US, has announced that EBSCO Open Days, now in its fourth year of bringing together librarians and publishers, is expanding to Asia. The expansion of Open Days is projected to provide a convenient and beneficial open communication platform for librarians to meet with EBSCO and publishers in cities throughout Asia - Taipei, Taiwan (April 22), Beijing, China (April 27), Singapore (May 4), and Seoul, Korea (June 1).

To prepare for Open Days, EBSCO Korea recently conducted a survey. The survey revealed that librarians want to be informed of specialised content and materials for their users so they can provide bibliographic instruction and reference services for specific subject areas or an academic discipline.

The Open Day series aims to offer the opportunity to make key contacts within a single day, providing publishers with exhibitor opportunities in which to share their e-content product information with attendees. Also, attendees can learn about e-resource management tools available through EBSCO Discovery and Management Solutions. Librarians, information managers, e-resource managers and serials and e-book acquisitions specialists can also learn more about e-content products from various publishers. These include M.E. Sharpe, Royal Society, World Scientific Publishing Company (WSPC), AAAS (Science), Institute of Physics (IOP), John Wiley & Sons, and Oxford University Press (OUP).
