Wiley Online Library to replace Wiley InterScience website -

Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc., US, has announced the launch of Wiley Online Library. Built on the latest technology and designed with extensive input from scholars around the world, Wiley Online Library will host multidisciplinary collection of online resources covering life, health and physical sciences, social science and the humanities. Slated for launch in July 2010, this online service will deliver seamless integrated access to over 4 million articles from 1500 journals, 8000 books, and hundreds of reference works, laboratory protocols and databases from John Wiley & Sons and key imprints including Wiley-Blackwell, Wiley-VCH and Jossey-Bass.

Developed in consultation with researchers, students, authors, society partners and library customers from around the world, Wiley Online Library’s brand new user interface delivers intuitive navigation for all users. Users can easily discover, read, download and cite current journal and book content, EarlyView articles, backfiles, related material and supporting data. Access Icons will identify the content available to users through institutional licenses, society membership, author-funded OnlineOpen articles and as freely available content.

Comprehensive search engine optimisation ensures easy discoverability of content, delivering relevant and immediate results. Content is organised by subject category with books, journals, reference works and databases cross-searchable by subject. With the journal or book title as the prominent brand at all levels, including article and chapter level, users can easily identify their favourite products regardless of how they arrived on the site. Journal and society communities can share news, information and events on specially customised journal home pages.

Wiley Online Library will completely replace the Wiley InterScience website and all content and licenses will be transferred to the new site to enable seamless access for users and subscribers. The new platform is expected to provide new opportunities for libraries to increase the visibility of their licensed content and drive users to it within and outside library catalogues.
