STM and scholarly publisher Wiley-Blackwell, US, has launched the eighth edition of Rook’s Textbook of Dermatology online in partnership with online publishing services provider Semantico Limited.
The 8th Edition marks the debut of the online edition of Rook's Textbook of Dermatology, allowing users the fastest possible access to the full range of knowledge on all known dermatological conditions. With fully searchable text and a fully searchable bank of more than 3,300 downloadable images, the online version allows users to search across all four volumes simultaneously; search all images separately; download images into presentations; and link directly to references via a range of sources.
The site is powered by the Semantico Information Publishing Platform (SIPP). Using SIPP, publishers can create their own microsites which will appear different at the user interface while retaining all the functionality of a much larger site. Semantico’s custom design approach allows unique functionality to be developed for a site to address a specific user need.
For Rook’s Dermatology the images are an essential part of the resource, acting as a powerful and direct learning tool. The fully featured image gallery lets users search the images, getting them directly to the resources they value. The images are clean when shown in context, but watermarked when expanded to a full view to protect the copyright of an extensive and unique collection.
