Medical publisher the BMJ Group, UK, has announced the appointment of Phil Johnson as publisher for its flagship titles, BMJ and Student BMJ. With this appointment, the Group seeks to ensure that doctors and other healthcare professionals globally have the intelligence they need to make informed decisions for their patients.
Johnson has a strong record in the healthcare publishing sector. Starting as a sub editor, he moved on to become Editor of Doctor & Hospital Doctor before moving to United Business Media (UBM) as Editor.
He then went into a senior management position at UBM Medica where he ran the division which was responsible for Pulse and Chemist & Druggist. In this role he launched their online recruitment offering, an events business and ran their annual awards.
