Maney Publishing extends open access model to humanities journals -

Academic publisher Maney Publishing, UK, has extended its open access (OA) business model, MORE OpenChoice, to its humanities journals. Nearly sixty journals, including titles in archaeology, history, and language and cultural studies, will be included in MORE OpenChoice from January 2011 onwards.

MORE OpenChoice is a business model which co-exists with Maney's traditional subscription business. According to the company, the move recognises that interest in open access publishing is now extending from the science, technology and medical sectors into the humanities.

Maney claims to be one of the first academic publishers to offer an open access publishing route for authors and society partners for history and humanities titles. Also, it is expected that the benefits of easy access to freely available material will extend readership, promoting scholarship to the widest possible audience.

MORE OpenChoice has been developed in response to the changing requirements of customers. This is an initiative which ensures that Maney continues to attract the best research which, when published, achieves the maximum impact.
