CRC Press, a US-based publisher of technical and scientific works, has announced the immediate availability of custom textbook publishing at www.crcpress.com/custompub, a new service that allows professors to build textbooks tailored to their courses as an alternative to organising their course around existing texts.
Built for educators, CRC Press Custom Publishing offers the ability to include materials from anywhere - the entire CRC collection, articles from the web, Word or PDF files, library content - almost anything, all with real-time copyright clearance.
To create a custom textbook, professors first choose pages or chapters from the extensive CRC Press library of references and textbooks, then add any additional content - their own personal files and PDFs, web articles, or blogs. They can now choose a title, design the cover, and write an introduction.
Educators can see pricing for their text at every step of the process, so they can determine the cost of their materials and provide budget-conscious students with cost-effective options. The final custom textbook is available in print and/or digital formats, delivered electronically or through the faculty's institutional bookstore.
With CRC Press Custom Publishing, professors will always have complete control over what to include in their texts and the order in which the information is presented.
