The Society for Scholarly Publishing (SSP), a nonprofit organisation formed to promote and advance communication among the scholarly publishing community, has announced Kathy Hurley as the keynote speaker for the IN 2010 Conference, scheduled for September 21-23, 2010. Hurley is Senior Vice President, Strategic Partnerships Pearson Education & Pearson Foundation. She works across Pearson on sales and marketing projects as well as education-related initiatives on a domestic and international scale.
Pearson, a global digital services and publishing education company, has grown its digital revenues by an average annual rate of 19 percent and invested more than $3.5 billion in content over the last five years. Hurley has spent 35 years in the education publishing industry. She currently serves on several key industry and education advisory boards, including, the Partnership for 21st Century Skills (P21) as Board Chairman, the National Coalition for Technology in Education and Training (NCTET), the Software and Information Industry Association (SIIA), and the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) board.
During the IN Conference, Hurley will share her insights and vision for managing the publishing challenges in e-learning. In her keynote speech - Adapting the Business of Publishing to the Future of Learning - she will discuss strategies for leveraging e-learning to enrich the educational experience and assist attendees in discerning where business opportunities exist.
