Academic publisher SAGE features as one of ten companies leading the way in innovation in the science, technical and medical publishing sector, according to a new report - Outsell Scientific, Technical & Medical Information: 2011 Market Forecast and Trends Report. The report is available online at http://www.outsellinc.com/store/products/1040.
Outsell’s annual forecast recognises companies whose offerings are ‘shaking up their respective marketplaces’. The 2011 edition profiles SAGE alongside both established and newer entrants to STM. The company’s choice of platform provider for its more than 670 journals, HighWire, is also featured.
SAGE’s inclusion in the report reflects several key advances in its social sciences publishing programme as well as its continued growth through acquisitions and partnerships in STM. Highlighted is the launch of SAGE Open, the first broad-based open access journal for the social sciences and humanities. Over 600 submissions have been received to date for the journal. SAGE’s strengths in research methods publishing are also recognised. The publisher launched SAGE Research Methods Online in January, a new online tool for research methods. The online social networking site, Methodspace, launched in 2009 also passed 10,000 members earlier this year.
