BMJ Group names joint editors for respiratory medicine journal Thorax -

Publisher BMJ Group, UK, has announced the appointment of two joint editors for its international respiratory medicine journal Thorax. The journal is published by BMJ Group and co-owned with the British Thoracic Society.

The new joint editors, Professor Andrew Bush and Honorary Professor Ian Pavord, succeed Professor Wisia Wedzicha, who edited the title from 2002.

Andrew Bush is professor of paediatric respirology at Imperial School of Medicine at the National Heart and Lung Institute and director of the Academic Department of Paediatrics at the National Heart and Lung Institute. He is a consultant children's chest physician at London's Royal Brompton Hospital. He has contributed to, or chaired, various task forces charged with producing evidence based guidelines and has been on the editorial boards of numerous leading respiratory medicine journals.

Ian Pavord is consultant physician and honorary professor of medicine at the Institute for Lung Health at the Department of Respiratory Medicine, Allergy and Thoracic Surgery at Glenfield Hospital, Leicester. He has contributed to, or chaired, various task forces charged with producing evidence based guidelines, including the British Thoracic Society/Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network (SIGN) asthma diagnosis guidelines and asthma monitoring guidelines groups. A previous member of Thorax's editorial board, he has been associate editor of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine for the past five years.
