The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) has announced that PEDIATRICS, the official journal of the Academy, has been honored as one of the best in association media and publishing. The publication won two distinguished awards in the 30th Annual EXCEL Awards - Gold Medal - Journals: Most Improved Category and Silver Medal - Journals: Design Excellence Category.
EXCEL award winners are selected for displaying exemplary work in editorial, design, advertising and marketing, online publishing, mobile applications, digital editions and electronic newsletter categories. The awards were presented at the EXCEL Awards Gala held in conjunction with the Association Media & Publishing Annual Meeting in Washington DC.
Launched in January 1948, PEDIATRICS publishes original research, clinical observations, and special feature articles. It is among the top 2 percent most-cited scientific and medical journals, and the most-cited journal in the field of pediatrics. The journal was ranked first in the 'Overall 5-year Impact Factor' category by the Thomson/ISI Journal Citation Reports for the past three consecutive years. It was also voted one of the most influential journals in the fields of Biology & Medicine over the last 100 years in a poll conducted by SLA's BioMedical & Life Sciences Division.
