Healthcare information service provider Wolters Kluwer Health (WK Health), US, has announced the appointment of Dr. Christian Hartman as Director of Clinical Quality and Patient Safety for Pharmacy OneSource. In his new role, Hartman will be responsible for ensuring the optimal use and development of electronic clinical surveillance and quality improvement solutions.
Dr. Hartman is founder and president of the American Society of Medication Safety Officers, a professional organisation representing medication safety officers at healthcare organisations. He is also an assistant professor of medicine and nursing at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, an adjunct professor of pharmacy practice at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences and the University of Rhode Island, and a clinical assistant professor of pharmacy practice at Northeastern University.
Recently, Dr. Hartman was appointed to chair a Special Commission to enhance oversight of Massachusetts' pharmacy compounding industry. The Special Commission was created in the wake of a fatal fungal meningitis outbreak that was traced back to a Massachusetts-based compounding pharmacy.
Prior to joining Pharmacy OneSource, Dr. Hartman served as a senior research pharmacist at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Previously, he was the first Medication Safety Officer at UMass Memorial Medical Center in Worcester, Mass., where he created the first accredited post-doctoral residency program in medication safety.
