University of Arizona opts for BioMed's Open Repository service -

Open access publisher BioMed Central, UK, has announced that the University of Arizona has become the first academic institute in the US to adopt its 'Open Repository' service. The service builds, hosts and maintains uniquely customised DSpace repositories on behalf of organisations.

Through the implementation of the Open Repository service, the University of Arizona is now stated to have a uniquely customised, reliable and cost-effective repository solution.

An increasing number of funding bodies are mandating open and unrestricted access to published research. This has necessitated institutions like the University of Arizona to look for innovative ways to store and publicise their research output.

BioMed's Open Repository service seeks to provide an extremely cost effective solution for institutions looking to showcase their intellectual output. Not only does the system help institutions comply with open access mandates, but it can also be fully customised to help organisations raise their profile and showcase their intellectual output.

Open Repository is built upon the latest version of DSpace, an open-source solution for accessing, managing and preserving scholarly works. Customers of Open Repository benefit from updated system features not only from DSpace themselves, but also from BioMed's team who are continually working to enhance their repository service. Demonstrations of the service are available by contacting the Open Repository team.
