Information services provider Atypon Systems, Inc., US, has released Literatum10.1, a new version of the leading platform used by professional and scholarly publishers to manage, deliver and monetise their digital content. Literatum 10.1 is available immediately.
Publishing organisations such as JSTOR, the American Chemical Society, de Gruyter, and Annual Reviews are using Literatum to provide controlled access to journals, books, reference works, and other types of publications.
Literatum 10.1 will allow publishers to enhance their offerings and the user experience. Discussions & Polls will enable publishers to create new content experiences by weaving user-generated content into their publications. These tools can be used to power blogs, article comment threads, and more, and can be customized for individual websites and pages. Collections allow publishers to group related content, for example everything related to cardiology, enabling users to search and browse the collection and sign up for new content alerts. Collections can also be licensed and made available for sale through the website.
Additionally, Zoomable Images offers a compelling user experience for viewing figures at extremely high levels of magnification and resolution. Literatum automatically generates JPEG 2000 images from source files. Publishers do not need to make any changes to their production process.
