Open access publisher BioMed Central, UK, has announced the launch of a new open access journal, Neural Systems & Circuits. Dr. Peter Latham, University College London, UK, and Dr. Venkatesh Murthy, Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology, Harvard University, will serve as Editors-in-Chief of the journal.
In the inaugural Editorial, the co-Editors-in-Chief explain the need for a journal that encompasses all aspects of circuit or systems level analysis, as the distance between theoretical and experimental studies in neuroscience diminishes. It is expected that this journal will foster communication between these two disciplines, allowing for a greater understanding of the circuitry of the brain. To this end, theory papers will feature an introductory summary for the non-theorist.
Following publication in Neural Systems & Circuits, the full-text of each article will be deposited immediately and permanently in repositories at INIST in France and in e-Depot, the National Library of the Netherlands' digital archive of electronic publications. The journal is included in all major bibliographic databases. BioMed Central is working closely with Thomson Reuters to ensure that citation analysis of articles published in Neural Systems & Circuits will be available.
