The Joint Information Systems Committee (JISC), UK, has announced that this year's live-streaming partner Sonic Foundry will make JISC11 its most interactive conference to date. More than 600 delegates are expected to attend JISC11 on March 14 and 15 in Liverpool. Those unable to attend will still have the opportunity to participate in the conference through Sonic Foundry's Mediasite.
Past conferences have used social media and live-streaming. The difference this year is that Sonic Foundry will help JISC to offer online participants a truly inclusive experience and as though they are physically in Liverpool. The video, audio and presentations, alongside the Twitter feeds, will all be streamed to the computers of online participants in real-time. There will also be opportunities to ask questions, take part in online polls and contribute to the sessions taking place.
For the past nine years the JISC annual conference has been bringing expertise and knowledge to over 750 senior managers, academics, library professionals, teachers, policy makers and IT experts from across education in the UK and internationally. The 2011 programme consists of a variety of keynotes, sessions, worskshops, demonstrations and exhibition stands providing delegates with the opportunity to seek advice, guidance and inspiration to realise the potential of their existing technologies within their institutions.
