Elsevier marks twentieth anniversary of Clinical Pharmacology -

STM publisher Elsevier marks the twentieth anniversary of Clinical Pharmacology, a leading drug compendium used by thousands of hospitals and pharmacies for easy-to-find answers at the point of care.

Clinical Pharmacology was the inspiration of a medical student who was frustrated with existing drug information resources, which were cumbersome and time consuming to use. He envisioned relevant, actionable information that could be accessed precisely when needed at the point of care. In 1993, Clinical Pharmacology launched with the publication of 13 floppy disks, which were well received by hospital and retail pharmacies. Floppy disks gave way to CD-ROM's, and in 1998 the first online version of Clinical Pharmacology became available.

Clinical Pharmacology is accepted as a professional drug reference by all 50 State Boards of Pharmacy and is officially recognized by CMS as a drug compendium for use in Medicare coverage decisions regarding the appropriate use of drugs and biologics for patients with cancer. The product has also consistently received highest scores in independent studies when compared with other online drug databases.

First a product of the founding company, Multimedia Corporation, which later became Gold Standard, and now a product of Elsevier, Clinical Pharmacology has retained a broad base of loyal customers throughout its history.

To mark the occasion, Elsevier sent small tokens of appreciation to Clinical Pharmacology's long-standing customers and thank you notes to all Clinical Pharmacology customers, as well as various partners and affiliated organisations. The company is also celebrating with customers at industry conferences and tradeshows, such as the National Association of Chain Drug Stores (NACDS) Total Store Expo and the American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP).
