While the cold weather continued outside, conversation and learning remained very warm at the final day of the Online Information 2010 conference. Key themes on Thursday included enterprise search solutions, e-publishing solutions and e-Books, and XML.
Several seminar sessions offered advice about copyright and tips on protecting intellectual property in the digital world. There were some interesting sessions on incorporating XML into the production process, including tips on authoring XML in MS Word.
Bill Kasdorf of Apex CoVantage made a presentation intended to help publishers better understand today's dynamic digital landscape. Kasdorf suggested that there is a key, central distinction between the paper publishing world and the evolving digital environment. In the traditional environment publishers pushed content to users, but in the digital environment consumers pull content. Kasdorf also emphasised the importance of standards for content, media and devices, and provided an overview of the status of some of these developing standards.
