New IEEE webinar series to focus on engineering opportunities and innovations addressing humanitarian concerns -

Technical professional association IEEE has announced that mobile web technologies for the developing world and internet access in rural Africa are two of the topics that will be covered in a series of free Webinars that highlight humanitarian efforts. The series profiles different cases in which new technologies, business models, and social entrepreneurship initiatives are helping improve the livelihoods of the underprivileged.

The inaugural webinar, 'Mobile Web Technologies for the Developing World', is scheduled for December 8, 2010, at 15:00 GMT, 10:00 EST. It will be presented by Max Froumentin, program manager of the World Wide Web Foundation.

The webinars are free to the public and are presented by renowned individuals in the field. These will focus on four major infrastructural development needs - water, energy, transport and communication - and a variety of application areas - health, education, agriculture and innovation.
