AIP names Darrell W. Gunter as Chief Commercial Officer -

The American Institute of Physics (AIP) recently announced the appointment of Darrell W. Gunter as chief commercial officer (CCO). He will join AIP to become part of a core leadership team that will help to reposition and transform AIP's publishing programme to thrive into the 21st century.

In his new role, Gunter will be responsible for delivering AIP Publishing's global marketing and sales strategy. Prior to this, he was executive vice president and chief marketing officer for Collexis Holdings, Inc., a developer of semantic search and knowledge discovery software and AIP's technology partner for UniPHY. Earlier, Darrell had been the senior vice president for sales and marketing for the Americas marketplace for Elsevier, where he led the successful launch and growth of ScienceDirect.

The American Institute of Physics is a federation of 10 physical science societies representing more than 135,000 scientists, engineers, and educators. It claims to be one of the world's largest publishers of scientific information in physics. Offering full-solution publishing services for scientific societies and for similar organisations in science and engineering, AIP pursues innovation in electronic publishing of scholarly journals.
