The American Chemical Society (ACS) has announced that Dr. Phillip E. Savage will assume the role of Editor-in-Chief of the journal Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research (I&EC Research), effective January 1, 2014. Savage, who currently serves as Associate Editor for the journal, is an Arthur F. Thurnau Professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Michigan. He will succeed Editor-in-Chief Donald Paul, who has served in this position since 1986 and will retire from the journal at the end of 2013.
A 2012 ACS Fellow, Savage holds a B.S. from the Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. from the University of Delaware, both in chemical engineering. He joined the faculty of the University of Michigan as an Assistant Professor in 1986.
I&EC Research has been published since 1909 with variations in title and format. The journal publishes industrial and academic research in the broad fields of applied chemistry and chemical engineering with special focus on fundamentals, processes and products. The No. 1 cited journal in chemical engineering, I&EC Research received an Impact Factor of 2.206 with 38,417 total citations in the 2013 release of the Journal Citations Reports from Thomson Reuters.
