STM publisher Springer has announced that the German-language journal Zeitschrift für Planung und Unternehmenssteuerung (ZP) will be published entirely in English under the title Journal of Management Control (JoMaC), starting in spring 2011. The journal editors and Springer decided to make this move to keep up with the increasingly international nature of research in this field.
The journal appears four times a year and features papers on business management topics in the fields of management control and controlling. It focuses in particular on empirical and analytical research.
As part of the relaunch, two new editors - Professor Nils Boysen from the University of Jena (Germany) and Professor Utz Schäffer from WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management, Vallendar (Germany) - have been appointed. Renowned international scholars have also joined the editorial board. These include Professor Teemu Malmi, Helsinki School of Economics (Finland); Professor Marc Orlitzky, Penn State University (USA); Professor Deryl Northcott, University of Auckland (New Zealand); and Professor John Burns, Exeter Business School (UK).
The review process is facilitated by an electronic manuscript submission procedure and takes the form of a two-level, double-blind peer reviewing process. In addition, the JoMaC Best Reviewer Award is presented every year in recognition of outstanding work as a reviewer of submitted articles. The standard issues are regularly supplemented by special issues with international editors on current topics, such as the management of intangible assets, measuring corporate environmental performance and experimental research in management accounting.
