StoryDrive crossmedia conference at Frankfurt fair to focus on gaming opportunities -

The Frankfurt Book Fair has announced the second edition of the international media conference StoryDrive, which will take place in the course of the book fair on October 12-16, 2011. The conference will focus particularly on the influence games are having on other media, customers and our everyday lives. According to the organisers, the programme is by no means limited to exploring the prevalence of the technologies and workings of the games world in everyday life. With the premiere of the StoryDrive Business Centre, the focus is rather on redefining the boundaries of the content business.

One of the topics featured in the StoryDrive conference programme is the importance of doing business with content. Also on the agenda are accounts of cross-industry collaborations like the recent one sealed between Random House and THQ. New forms of storytelling, cloud and mobile gaming, community management and crossmedia copyright and business concepts will also be discussed.

Conference participants can expect a full programme of keynotes, along with around 40 workshops, presentations and case studies. The programme is organised by various topics, including rights & licences, innovation & technology, storytelling and funding & new business models.

As a supplement to the conference programme, this year the StoryDrive Business Centre will open its doors to a new dimension of doing business with content. Representatives from the publishing, film and games industries will meet here to negotiate new crossmedia rights and licensing deals and to initiate new forms of collaboration across industry boundaries. Organised matchmaking and networking events in the Business Lounge are expected to blur the boundaries among these industries and make it easier for participants to find the right business partner.

Additionally, this year for the first time, StoryDrive will offer a service package that is optimally tailored to the needs of games professionals, namely "Content for Games". The package offers conference highlights on the latest trends in the field of games and their impact on other media industries. This option also offers a variety of ways to strengthen contacts across industries through networking and face-to-face meetings. "Content for Games" is geared toward games professionals, as well as all those who are looking for access to one of the most dynamic media industries.
