Scope e-Knowledge Center (Scope), a leading provider of knowledge services and a Quatrro Global Services company, has announced that it has delivered 4 million abstracts of patents, book chapters, technical articles, standards etc, for information providers globally.
Scope initiated the abstraction service in 2003 for English language text, with a weekly dispatch capability of 150 abstracts. Within a year, Scope developed capabilities in translation and abstraction for French and German literature, including technical documents. Today, the service has evolved to cover 7 major languages in the world, including English, French, German, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. Besides, Scope also has the capability to process documents in 22 other languages, predominantly East European languages, with its in-house and external language specialists. Scope has also executed content enhancement and abstraction services for machine-assisted translation documents across languages.
With the experience gained over the decade, Scope has enhanced its capability to accommodate a weekly turn around capacity of over 30,000 abstracts. Further, Scope has designed and developed an abstraction and indexing platform, ConSCIse™, to deliver high-quality, SEO-friendly abstracts and keywords for books, book chapters, journal/articles etc. The platform was also recognised with the "CSI Awards for Excellence in IT 2012" award.
Over the years, Scope has implemented Kaizen, CIP, six sigma and Lean six sigma approaches for constant enhancement of the process to ensure high-quality in all its abstraction assignments.
While it took 4 years to complete the "first" 1 million mark, the assisted automation approach coupled with high growth in patents area, made the achievement feasible within a time span of two years.
