The theme of discovering and the user journey to e-content continues to be a hot topic at the on-going Frankfurt Book Fair. Various hot spot sessions discussed this and the impact it would make on publishers e-content.
In the hotspot sessions around the exhibition some very interesting sessions were running. Aptara talked about creating Best-Selling Interactive E-Books discussing three successful solutions, including live demos of Inkling, iBooks Author, and Aptara's custom HTML5 Solution. They examined the features of each leading platform and discussed which is best for your content. It included a special presentation from Inkling's Ryan Knapp on the Inkling Content Discovery Platform.
Understanding usage of your econtent was also a much discussed topic. The hot spot session by App Annie discussed E-Books Analytics and tracking your success to the bank. They suggested that understanding the e-books market is difficult, as is managing your own bottom line. App Annie will utilize their newly announced App Annie Store Stats and Analytics for e-books to offer a glimpse into market trends across multiple countries and categories, so you can easily see what's hot. App Annie, the leader in market data for Apps, now offers ePublishers a rich data set for the e-book economy.
Wolters Kluwer's discussion on "Big Data & Semantic Search" looked at how the information industry is heavily struggling with information (or better) disinformation overload. Existing processes and products in general lack scalability and flexibility. Therefore, new ideas must be taken up and leveraged, also across countries and languages.
