Medical publisher the BMJ Group, UK, has announced the appointment of new editors for several of its specialist titles. Appointments have been announced for BMJ Case Reports, Frontline Gastroenterology, the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health and the Journal of Medical Ethics.
Seema Biswas has been appointed editor in chief of BMJ Case Reports. The journal has the largest single collection of medical case reports to be found anywhere on the web. It boasts more than 2500 published contributions in every discipline from over 70 countries.
Biswas, who is a general surgeon and Red Cross Health Delegate, has extensive experience of working overseas as well as expertise in medical education and surgical training. Since May 2010, she has held the post of lead clinical editor for OnExamination, an online education/training tool produced by BMJ Learning, a division of BMJ Group.
Dr Anton Emmanuel has been named editor-in-chief of the journal Frontline Gastroenterology. Dr. Emmanuel is a consultant gastroenterologist and senior lecturer in neurogastroenterology at the Department of Medicine, University College Hospital, London. Frontline Gastroenterology, which launched in 2010, is co-owned with the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG).
Two joint editors have been appointed to the helm of the Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health. They are Associate Professor James Dunn and Professor Martin Bobak. The pair have been deputy editors of the title since 2009. Professor Dunn holds a chair in applied public health at the Department of Health, Aging and Society at McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario in Canada, a post that is funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Public Health Agency of Canada. Martin Bobak is professor of epidemiology and public health at University College London.
Professor Julian Savulescu has taken up his post as editor in chief of the Journal of Medical Ethics. Professor Savulescu holds the Uehiro Chair in Practical Ethics at the University of Oxford and is also director of the Oxford Centre for Neuroethics, funded by the Wellcome Trust.
