STM publisher Elsevier, Netherlands, has announced the appointment of Ron Mobed as Chief Executive Officer, Science and Technology, based in Amsterdam.
Mobed joins Elsevier from Cengage Learning, where he was President of the Academic & Professional group, and from Information Handling Services (IHS), where he was Co-President and Chief Operating Officer and ran IHS Energy division. Previously he was at Schlumberger, where he had a number of senior roles in business development, information management and as Global Vice President and General Manager of Schlumberger's Information Management business.
Mobed will join Elsevier effective April 4, 2011.
