UBM Electronics and Multicore Expo announce 2011 Multicore Executive Summit -

Technical information provider UBM Electronics, a UBM company, and the Multicore Expo, a BackDraft Technologies company, have announced the 2011 Multicore Executive Summit ‘Strategies for Integrating Multicore Technology.’

The Multicore Executive Summit is an integral component of the 3-day Multicore Expo, the premier technical conference and exhibition devoted to multicore technologies that are transforming the embedded computing industry. Co-located with UBM Electronics' ESC Silicon Valley 2011 event, the sixth annual Multicore Expo will be held from May 2 – 5, 2011, at McEnery Convention Center, San Jose, California.

During the Multicore Executive Summit, key figures from companies that include Arete Research, Freescale Semiconductor, Texas Instruments, The Linley Group, and Wind River will deliver keynote presentations that provide insight into pivotal aspects of multicore, security, smartphones, and Android technologies. This Executive Summit also includes an enlightening and imaginative panel of experts discussing how the rapid proliferation of multimedia-intensive platforms is accelerating innovation in multicore technologies and dictating new product strategy.

During the past few months, the first dual-core mobile phones have been released and there's even been a demonstration of the first quad-core processor for mobile devices. Linley Gwennap, principal analyst of The Linley Group, will discuss this trend to mobile multicore.

As embedded systems take on more complex processing and computing tasks, the next generation of multicore solutions must consider the overall system and unique application requirements. In his talk entitled 'Multicore Visions', Preet Virk, director of Freescale's network segment marketing division, will provide insight into the evolution of multicore SoC innovation that will allow users to make applications more intelligent while balancing software development costs.

Arete Research's managing director, Richard Kramer, and director, Brett Simpson, will present ‘Managing the Mess: Getting to A Billion Smartphones and Other Connected Devices’. In this dual-analyst presentation, Kramer and Simpson will provide their independent views on telecoms, software, semis and services, as they relate to the infrastructure surrounding connected devices.

The Executive Summit will conclude with a panel of experts debating the various aspects of ‘A Boundless Appetite for More, More, More: Android + Multicore Yields Synergy for Embedded Devices’. Moderated by Markus Levy, this panel will focus on the technology disruption and innovation opportunities created by the synergy of Android and multicore.

In addition to the Executive Summit, the three-day Multicore Expo program will include technically-oriented panel discussions, in-depth engineering classes, and sponsored presentations in the Multicore Theatre. These technical sessions will cover a wide range of topics related to the practical application of multicore technology.
