Endocrine Surgeon Dr. Gerard Doherty appointed Editor of video journal, VideoEndocrinology -

Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers and the American Thyroid Association have announced that Dr. Gerard M. Doherty, the James Utley Professor of Surgery and Chair, Department of Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine and Surgeon-in-Chief at Boston Medical Center, has been named Editor of VideoEndocrinology, a new educational resource for endocrine surgeons, otolaryngologists, endocrinologists, radiologists, and other specialists. VideoEndocrinology is included with a subscription to the flagship journal Thyroid.

VideoEndocrinology is a new peer-reviewed, rapid publication platform for high-quality video presentations of cutting-edge open and minimally invasive surgical procedures and diagnostic imaging techniques and technologies covering thyroid, parathyroid, adrenal, and endocrine pancreas tumors and diseases to improve patient outcomes. The journal will seek to provide a dynamic new venue for surgeons and physicians to share their techniques and showcase new approaches. The journal will also present guideline updates, meeting reports, mini-debates, videobriefs, and other timely content.

Dr. Doherty is currently President-Elect of the American Association of Endocrine Surgeons (AAES). He is on the Board of Directors of the American Thyroid Association and has held multiple leadership positions in national and international professional groups, including the Council-Coordinator of the International Association of Endocrine Surgeons. Dr. Doherty has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed journal articles and is committed to undergraduate medical education and residency training.

Beginning in January 2014, the highly valued abstract and commentary publication - Clinical Thyroidology, led by Editor-in-Chief Dr. Jerome M. Hershman - will be part of the Thyroid journal expansion, enhanced by a sophisticated online format that will be easily searchable and discoverable, and accessible in libraries and institutions all over the globe as part of a subscription to Thyroid.
