The Frankfurt Book Fair will host an offshoot of its international media conference, StoryDrive, at MICA (Mercado de Industrias Culturales Argentinas), Argentina's first trade fair for the creative industries. MICA will take place from June 2 – 5, 2011 in Buenos Aires.
As part of the StoryDrive conference, a total of 10 international experts from the fields of film, games and books will come together on June 3 and 4 to explore the latest trends and opportunities for cross-industry collaboration.
The StoryDrive programme features seven keynotes, presentations and discussions focused on crossmedia and transmedia-related topics. The speakers are from Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, the US and Argentina. They include Alex Fernandez, CEO of the development studio Streamline Media Group. In his keynote on 'gamification', he will demonstrate what other media branches can learn from the games industry. Lisa Holton of Fourth Story Media will discuss changes in the way we consume content and the impact this is having on the creative industries. While Sophie Holmes of Transworld Publishers highlights the potential of transmedia storytelling, producer David Gerson will discuss his experience of collaborating with the film and book industries. Using a case study, Ralph Möllers, director of children's software publisher Terzio Verlag, will provide practical insights into the challenges and successes of change management.
MICA aims is to establish a networking and export platform for the booming local creative industries, which are said to generate 3.5 per cent of Argentina's GDP and secure around 200,000 jobs. The trade fair is stated to represent all branches of the creative economy.
StoryDrive is a product of Frankfurt SPARKS, the digital initiative of the Frankfurt Book Fair. It is geared toward professionals from the worlds of media and publishing and their counterparts from the fields of technology and marketing. StoryDrive takes place during the Frankfurt Book Fair and features a two-day conference (October 12 and 13, 2011) and a crossmedia marketplace.
