UpToDate adds Adult and Pediatric Emergency Medicine content to clinical information database -

UpToDate, a part of Wolters Kluwer Health, US, has announced the addition of a new specialty, Adult and Pediatric Emergency Medicine, to its clinical information database. Emergency physicians and other healthcare professionals, who subscribe to UpToDate, can now access over 375 topics specifically devoted to emergency medicine, as well as over 7,700 topics across 15 specialties.

UpToDate is an evidence-based resource that provides fast, accurate clinical answers to physicians and other medical professionals, particularly at the point of care. UpToDate is available on the Web and via desktop/laptop computer and PDA — another benefit for emergency medicine clinicians, among whom mobile device use is common.

Editors-in-Chief of the new Adult and Pediatric Emergency Medicine content are Dr. Gary R. Fleisher, Dr. John A. Marx and Dr. Ron M. Walls. These editors and 247 physician contributors worked to develop topics that cover all major areas of Emergency Medicine.

Subscribers to UpToDate have access to all of its content, which is particularly useful for emergency medicine professionals, who often encounter cases spanning multiple specialties. Widely accepted by more than 360,000 clinicians in over 145 countries, UpToDate’s mission is to improve health outcomes by providing clinicians with current, comprehensive clinical content, including treatment recommendations based on the best medical evidence. Created by more than 4,000 editors, authors and peer reviewers from leading medical institutions, UpToDate monitors more than 430 journals to ensure that the most recent information and findings are incorporated into the content.
