It represents one of the oldest parts of the Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, the first issue being published under the guidance of a distinguished Editorial Board in June 1959.
New Editor-in-Chief Professor John Chew joined the Editorial Board of the Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science in 2006, became an associate editor in 2009, and was guest editor for the special section on "Engineering in a Changing Climate" in 2010. He has been Professor of Mechanical Engineering at University of Surrey since April 2000 and from 2008 has lead the Fluids and Vehicles research in the Division of Mechanical, Medical and Aerospace Engineering.
