Open access publisher BioMed Central, UK, has announced the appointment of Dr Efrat Shadmi from the University of Haifa and Professor Leiyu Shi from the Johns Hopkins University as co-Editors-in-Chief of International Journal for Equity in Health.
Dr Shadmi is a Lecturer at the Cheryl Spencer Department of Nursing at the University of Haifa, Israel and a health policy consultant to Israel's largest non-profit healthcare organisation. Her research focuses on evaluating equitable healthcare delivery and its outcomes, evaluation of organisational mechanisms to reduce inequity in care and on methods to better understand the distribution of morbidity between population groups.
Leiyu Shi is Professor of health policy and health services research at Johns Hopkins University Bloomberg School of Public Health, Department of Health Policy and Management and is co-Director of Johns Hopkins Primary Care Policy Center. Professor Shi's research focuses on primary care, health disparities and vulnerable populations. He has conducted extensive studies about the association between primary care and health outcomes, particularly on the role of primary care in mediating the adverse impact of income inequality on health outcomes.
International Journal for Equity in Health aims to improve the understanding of issues that influence the health of populations. The Journal received its first official Impact Factor this year, placing the journal 56th out of 114 journals in the Public, Environmental and Occupational category of the Journal Citation Report.
