On Day 4 at the
Frankfurt Book Fair, US-based information infrastructure software provider Mark Logic Corporation made a presentation on how publishers are using MarkLogic Server to speed the creation of information products. Used by publishers such as McGraw Hill, Springer and Oxford University Press, MarkLogic Server seeks to help publishers to streamline workflows, aggregate content and deliver content for digital products, syndication and mobile.
Also on the same day, Thomson Reuters launched 'Book Citation Index', which will seek to help researchers to quickly and easily identify the most relevant books for their work. Book Citation Index is part of Web of Science and is expected to be of interest to publishers, authors, researchers and libraries.
Swets also made a presentation on its e-books platform, which the company claims is the most comprehensive catalogue of academic and professional literature in the world. Available through SwetsWise, it allows users to purchase both individual titles and e-book collections, under the same pricing and purchase models as offered through the publishers and aggregators directly.
