Editors of 'Croatian Medical Journal' quit following differences with management board -

Two editors-in-chief of the Croatian Medical Journal (CMJ) reportedly resigned last week after what they say are years of obstruction by members of the management board that made running the journal practically impossible.

CMJ recently celebrated its 20th anniversary. The journal has an impact factor of 1.45, which is the highest of any Croatian journal. At an editorial board meeting last week, Editor-in-Chief Ana Marušić presented her vision for the future and resigned at the end of her talk. Her co-editor-in-chief, Ivan Damjanov of the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City, also stepped down.

Additionally, 18 of the journal's 27 editorial board members - known as executive editors - followed immediately. Several others submitted their resignations over the following few days.

The resignations will take effect in September, which will leave the new editorial team with enough material for two more issues. Marušić has joined forces with Harry Campbell, a professor of genetic epidemiology and public health at the University of Edinburgh, to create The Journal of Global Health, which will be launched at the World Congress of Epidemiology in August.
