The Frankfurt Book Fair, a subsidiary of the German Publishers & Booksellers Association, has announced that STM, academic publishing and specialist information companies will be exhibiting at the fair, between October 6-10.
Selected events for STM publishers at the fair include Hot Spot Tour to the Future of Publishing; STM Annual Frankfurt Conference 2010; Knowledgespeak's exclusive interviews with industry experts; RefWorks-COS - Connecting Researchers; Standard Processes for Digital Publishing Workflows; Digitisation of Early Printed Books: Collaboration and Interactivity; Geotagging: A new approach to literature research (Press conference); Hot Spots Trend Panel "Content meets Technology"; Evaluating the impact of scholarly books; Assessing the Credibility of Scholary Research - CrossMark; New online production tools; Are social networks threatening STM publishers?; and Innovative business models for STM and HSS publishers.
With more than 7,000 exhibitors from over 100 countries, the Frankfurt Book Fair claims to be the biggest book and media fair in the world. It also organises the participation of German publishers at more than 25 international book fairs and is associated with the Cape Town Book Fair in South Africa and the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair. It is stated to maintain the most visited website worldwide for the publishing industry at www.buchmesse.de, and its directory of decision-makers in the book and media industries reportedly features around 31,000 contacts.
