Academic publisher SAGE has announced the appointment of Paul Evans as Managing Director of SAGE Asia-Pacific. In his new position, Evans will lead a team of 20 permanent office staff based in the regional headquarters in Singapore and across China (Beijing and Shanghai), Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines and Australia.
Prior to this, Evans served as senior vice president of Elsevier responsible for publishing and research relations. His career in Elsevier has included roles based in the UK, Europe, Asia and the USA, including appointments as Director of Elsevier's global engineering and materials science division, and Vice President for science and technology in Elsevier China.
Evans joins SAGE at a period of rapid expansion in the Asia Pacific markets. SAGE has been strongly adding to its presence in the region since 2006, when it created a regional headquarters in Singapore. The growth reflects SAGE's increased distribution of books, journals and reference works in the region.
