Everything Channel's IPED releases report on cloud computing research -

US-based Everything Channel's IPED Research has announced the availability of a new report highlighting the emergence of infrastructure as a service (IAAS) and emergence of a new technology delivery model. The report, 'The Evolution of the New Delivery Model: Virtualization as a Stepping Stone to Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) in the Cloud' was based on cloud-based research delivered at IPED's 2010 Channel Leadership Forum.

IPED's latest research reportedly finds the relationship between hardware virtualisation and pure cloud IAAS is growing at the mid-market and enterprise levels. And as more organisations seek to take advantage of cloud computing benefits, a new hybrid model of delivering technology is emerging. The report outlines the new delivery models and highlights the critical success factors both managed service providers (MSPs) and IaaS vendors should consider as they capitalise on the market opportunity.

According to the report, backup and recovery options continue to be number one driver to embrace IaaS. Yet, 52 percent of partners and 61 percent of customers cite data security/privacy as the highest risk concerns for IaaS adoption. The percent of service providers promoting desktop virtualisation and IaaS will double by year-end 2012, says the report. Those MSPs that are not proactively reaching out to educate customers may be left behind, it further states.
