Knowledgespeak completes first on-site interview at the Frankfurt Book Fair -

STM industry news service Knowledgespeak interviewed Andrew Richardson, Managing Director Europe, WK Health Medical Research, on Wednesday, as part of the on-site interviews series it is conducting at the Frankfurt Book Fair. Andrew shared a number of insights through the course of the interview.

When asked about the needs of vertical search consumers and how these have evolved over the past few years, Andrew commented that mobile devices, immediacy of content, and globalisation were key influencers. Given the increasing access to mobile devices, real time access to relevant, more immediate and more topical content is becoming more urgent among medical information users. For example, Wolter Kluwer is looking at the requirements of doctors, much more at the bedside as they become un-tethered.

When queried on how the company was addressing the issues of redundancy, relevance and searchability in the medical information domain, Andrew quoted the example of Ovid SP's feature, "My Projects" that enables users to seamlessly integrate research from sources outside Ovid.

Regarding convergence of journal articles and databases, Andrew mentioned that the OVID platform lets users search databases, journals and books simultaneously.

The complete interview will be published in Knowledgespeak in the near future.
