Wolters Kluwer Health, a global provider of information for healthcare professionals and students, has announced that UpToDate, its evidence-based clinical decision support resource, has made significant impacts as a key medical education resource at the Faculdade de Medicina de Jundiaí (FMJ) while also improving patient care.
Faculdade de Medicina de Jundiaí is affiliated with a network of regional teaching hospitals and healthcare facilities including the Hospital Universitário, Hospital São Vicente de Paula, Ambulatório de Especialidades Médicas, as well as a number of municipal health clinics. Taken together, this network averages 3,500 visits per month managed by 500 clinicians.
With the goals of strengthening student training, providing clinical decision support for residents and equipping more experienced doctors with current clinical content from trusted sources, FMJ implemented UpToDate in 2010. UpToDate was rapidly adopted by professors in the classroom as well as by students who use UpToDate as an essential research resource for their studies. In the past year alone, UpToDate usage has increased 93 percent. Complementing the benefits on the learning side, UpToDate is making a significant impact at the point of care: 90 percent of users say UpToDate has improved the quality of patient care they provide, according to FMJ.
