Unbound Medicine, a US-based provider of knowledge management solutions for the healthcare industry, has announced the launch of La Guía del VIH de Johns Hopkins, a web service developed in partnership with the Johns Hopkins POC-IT Center.
The service, a Spanish-language adaptation of the Johns Hopkins HIV Guide, is a collaborative project of The Johns Hopkins Center for Clinical Global Health Education, the Pan American Health Organization, and Gorgas Memorial Institute in Panama. The entire project, from content creation through web delivery, is supported by Unbound Medicine's end-to-end digital publishing platform.
Integration of HIV diagnosis and management into primary medical services is advocated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a critical means of improving patient care throughout the world. The content for the new service began as a translation of the Johns Hopkins HIV Guide. The translation was developed and customised for the Central American region by the Hopkins team using Unbound Medicine's uPub authoring and content management system. The design of the service mirrors that of www.HopkinsGuides.com, launched by Unbound Medicine as the home for the mobile + web versions of the Johns Hopkins Antibiotic, Diabetes, and HIV Guides.
The La Guía del VIH has been enhanced with region-specific recommendations, references and commentary. The service is being made available free of charge to health care facilities in Belize, Costa Rica, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, and Panama with support from the international agencies above and the US Department of Health and Human Services.
